What is Self-love?

There is currently a lot of discussion surrounding the concept of self-love, which sounds wonderful, but what does it truly entail? How do we go about loving ourselves and why does it hold such significance? Self-love means embracing every aspect of who we are, treating ourselves with gentleness and dignity, and fostering our personal growth and well-being. It is closely intertwined with self-esteem and self-compassion. When we possess a strong sense of self-love, we comprehend our worth and extend kindness towards ourselves. However, for those of us who have gone through childhood trauma, difficult relationships, or various painful encounters, learning to love ourselves may prove challenging. But here's the comforting truth: self-love is not an innate trait; rather, it is a skill that we can acquire and cultivate, much like self-confidence and self-trust. It holds immense importance, as it enables us to recognize and appreciate our uniqueness, freeing us from the need to conform to societal standards or live up to others' expectations. In order to lead a fulfilling life, we must stay true to ourselves and honor our own identities.

Self-love Tips

Forgive yourself..

We all make mistakes or behave in ways we regret , we can practise self love by extending kindness and compassion to ourselves in these moments.When negative self talk creeps in we notice it , acknowledge it without giving in to self criticism 

Practice self care..

We spend our lives taking care of others and putting their needs first before our own . What if for once you learned to sometime for a one on one with yourself ?. Theres no better way to reconnect with yourself. 

Be Grateful

Start a gratitude journal , take time write down all the things your grateful for in life . Daily gratitude is the key to happiness and loving yourself. 

Meditate

Take time out to calm your mind , everyday meditation is a way to be more intentional , be aware of your thoughts , feelings and desires , live a full life that accurately reflects this. 

Spend time in nature

Fresh air is therapeutic, an outdoor adventure with people you love to spend time with and be around can put a smile on your face . You might plan a walk with friends or a loved one or even just a bike ride with your kids. 

Affirmation

Start with 3 to 5 minutes at least twice a day , try saying affirmations upon waking up and getting in to bed. 

For Example:

 I Am Enough

 I Am Worthy

I Am Powerful

 I Am Confident

Repeat each affirmation 10 times , make your routine consistent.
